A dialogue on employment, economy, and the future of the Cobre Panamá project was opened in Coclé. During a session of the Coclé Provincial Council, held at the El Manantial Agro-Tourism Farm in Antón, Cobre Panamá presented the project's status under the Preservation and Safe Management Plan and its economic impact on the province. The Public Relations Manager, Maru Gálvez, expressed the company's apologies for not having promoted these dialogue spaces at a national level before and reiterated the commitment to maintain direct communication based on data. In October 2025, more than 4,000 people attended job fairs, and to date, more than 800 collaborators have been hired, 64% of whom come from neighboring communities in Colón and Coclé. Gálvez recalled that Coclé has been the second most economically affected province after the closure, with losses exceeding 40 million dollars in local purchases, directly impacting suppliers and families. The president of the Provincial Council, Josimar Guevara, highlighted the need for a new model of territorial governance that guarantees equity and transparency: “The closure represented a strong blow to our economy, especially in sectors such as real estate, where new neighborhoods were left abandoned after the dismissal of mining workers. Today we demand that any future scheme guarantees an equitable distribution of resources among districts such as Antón, Natá, Olá, La Pintada, Penonomé, and Aguadulce, with direct communication and true accountability so that development really reaches the people”. Information was shared about the 1,000 new jobs required for the processing of the material pile. It was explained that after the approval of the concentrate export, the need for hiring personnel was reactivated. It was a jaguarundi.
