On Sunday at Juan Hombrón beach in Coclé province, Panama, a man, 65, drowned while trying to rescue a woman being swept away by a current. Bathing saved the woman, but the man died at the scene. Authorities have called for caution on beaches following the incident.

Panama - A man around 65 years old drowned around noon this Sunday at Juan Hombrón beach, in the district of Antón, Coclé province. Preliminary information details that the victim tried to rescue a woman who was with him, as she was being dragged by the current. Bathing in the area managed to rescue the couple, but unfortunately, the man, despite receiving first aid, did not react, and was declared dead on the beach. Meanwhile, the woman was transferred by Fire Department personnel who were in the area to the Maternal and Child Health Center in Antón. She is in stable condition but with a reserved prognosis. Following this tragedy, Sinaproc reiterated the call to the general public to take extreme precautions when entering the sea and to follow safety recommendations.
