The mayor of Arraiján, Stefany Peñalba, decided to withdraw the proposal to impose fines on dog owners for their pets' barking. In a video, she announced changes to the decree that generated controversy in the community.
In the midst of the discussion on the topic, Peñalba shared: "Fining dogs for barking? I have four: Atés, Chile, Yappy, and Box." In this way, the mayor expressed her personal connection with the animals and her understanding of pet owners.
The decision to reconsider the fines was made during the presentation of a budget transfer in which Jaime Díaz, director of the local Institute, participated. After evaluating different viewpoints and listening to the community's concerns, it was decided to review the controversial decree.
