The first femicide followed by a suicide was recorded in Arraiján, Panama. According to the National Police, a man of about 38 years arrived at his home around 5:00 AM this Saturday and initiated a heated argument with his 35-year-old partner. Suddenly, during the dispute, the man (a truck driver) drew a firearm, shooting his partner multiple times at point-blank range amidst their screams. Afterwards, he, who did not drink alcohol but apparently did this time, decided to shoot himself in the head, leaving both of them lying on the floor in a pool of their own blood. The most tragic part of this heartbreaking story, of a couple who had sworn their love and were of Dominican nationality, unfolded in front of their minor children: a 17-year-old teenager and a 3.5-year-old baby.
