On Sunday, March 2, 2026, an incident occurred during a routine security inspection. According to the Civil Aviation Authority (AAC), the discovery was made while performing normal duties in a restricted area. Upon detecting a person on the runway, immediate support was requested from the National Police of Panama to handle the situation. When the officers arrived, the person did not react at first. After providing assistance and applying water, they managed to get a response. A person was found sleeping on the runway of José Ezequiel Hall Airport, on Isla Colón, in the province of Bocas del Toro.
