On Tuesday, Minister of Labor Jackeline Muñoz and Vice Minister of Housing Fernando Méndez prevented the eviction of 300 people living in the La Mesa community in Bocas del Toro. After intensive negotiations with the landowner, it was agreed that the families would not be evicted, and it was decided to conduct an official census to determine the exact number of people, children, and adults living in the area. Both officials are in Bocas del Toro coordinating recruitment drives, where it is expected to hire 3,000 people in the first phase and 2,000 more later, which will help reactivate the province's economy. Today, around 400 applications were received, the minister reported, and she assured that the drive will continue in the coming days.
