The judges took into account that the test conducted on March 4, the day of the fatal accident, showed that she was driving under the influence of alcohol, which poses a danger to the community.

It was on March 4, around 8:00 p.m., that a 50-year-old woman was run over and killed by the gray pickup truck driven by Pineda on the Inter-American highway, while crossing the road near the La Guinea bridge, located in the Boquerón district, Chiriquí province.

The driver, who remained at the scene, was detained the same day. A test with an alcohol sensor was administered on site, which showed 80 micrograms of alcohol per deciliter of blood, well above the permitted limit.

Panama — Eyleen Pineda, 24, will remain in provisional detention, after an Appeals Court confirmed the precautionary measure for the crime of aggravated negligent homicide, related to a hit-and-run traffic accident in which a woman around 50 years old died.

The magistrates, after hearing the arguments of the parties, decided not to revoke the application of the precautionary measure, as had been requested by Pineda's defense.
