Panamanian Artist Sets Up Old Year Doll in Honor of World Cup Qualification

Sculptor Víctor Álvarez created an art piece in the form of an Old Year doll depicting the players of the Panama national football team. This work, set up in Chame, is a tribute to the historic qualification of the team for the 2026 World Cup.

The painter and sculptor Víctor Álvarez placed his first Old Year doll on the Inter-American Highway, in the Bejuco district of Chame. This is a tribute to the qualification of the Panama National Team for the 2026 World Cup. 'They are not just Old Year dolls... It is a tribute to @laseleccpanama (Panama National Team)', wrote the artist in a post on his Instagram account (@victor_alvarez_art), where the exhibition piece, valued between $3,000 and $4,000, can be seen. It was created in collaboration with José Ángel Valdés (@valdesjoseangel), in charge of the art and painting of the 'Red Devil'. On board a 'Red Devil' of the Panama – 2026 World Cup route, the players of the Panama National Football Team can be seen alongside their head coach, Thomas Christiansen. 'We are world champions'.
