Personnel from various stations of the Meritorious Fire Corps of the Republic of Panama (BCBRP) is attempting to control a forest fire in the Lajas area, Chame district, in the province of West Panama. Firefighting teams from the San Carlos, Chame, and Coronado stations are participating in this task. Personnel from the Capiras station continues to carry out firefighting tasks due to the fire's proximity to a shopping plaza. According to a preliminary report from firefighters, they are working in a coordinated and continuous manner to achieve the fire's extinction, whose origin has not yet been determined. In addition to this fire, a similar event is being attended in the Playa Caracol area, Chame district, where units continue to carry out control and surveillance tasks to prevent the spread of the fire. Due to the magnitude of both fires, the Fire Corps has requested the collaboration of personnel trained in forest firefighting from the National Civil Protection System (SINAPROC) and the Ministry of Environment (MiAMBIENTE).
