In the province of Chiriquí, the Ministry of Health is making efforts to assist families displaced by floods and landslides. Medical teams have visited the ten shelters established in areas such as Boquete, Tierras Altas, and Barú. Health authorities have detected an increase in respiratory, gastrointestinal diseases, and skin problems among the refugees, urging for stricter biosecurity measures to prevent complications. Additionally, there has been an increase in patients with diseases related to the recent rains, keeping the Ministry of Health on alert.
The emergency persists, and it is expected that donations and coordination from authorities will provide assistance to affected families in several provinces. In the provinces of Herrera and Chiriquí, about two thousand people are without access to food and drinking water due to the collapse of roadways. The National Civil Protection System and local authorities have begun distributing aid via flight plans and alternative routes, although more donations of food and fuel are needed. Communities such as El Rincón and Barranca Sonadora hope that more individuals and organizations will join the support efforts.
