Panamanian President José Raúl Mulino inaugurated the interchange in Chitré, which will benefit over 200,000 residents of the Herrera and Los Santos regions on the Azuero Peninsula. This infrastructure project, costing 44.5 million balboas, had been stalled for two consecutive governments before the current administration rescued it and completed its construction. The interchange features three levels: an elevated viaduct on the upper level, a modern roundabout on the middle level, and an underpass on the lower level connecting Chitré directly with La Villa de Los Santos, reducing travel times. Two modern pedestrian bridges were also built for safety. President Mulino emphasized that just as this project was completed, the national economy will also advance this year, calling for continued collective effort as 'the best is yet to come.' He also reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the agricultural sector.
