Former Panama President Concerned About Venezuela Situation

Mireya Moscoso stated that Maduro's arrest is just the first step. She expressed hope for swift changes in Venezuela and support for the opposition.

Former President Mireya Moscoso expressed deep concern about the situation in Venezuela following the arrest of dictator Nicolás Maduro. "The only step that has been taken is to send Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores to prison," she stated. Moscoso detailed that U.S. President Donald Trump has outlined the next steps for Venezuela, and she hopes this will happen soon, "because the Venezuelan people can no longer endure it." The former leader said, "While the arrest of Nicolás Maduro has been achieved, other members of his regime are still at large." "We are supporting whatever María Corina tells us to do, whatever we can do, who to talk to, what message to send," she said. The former head of state is convinced that things will change despite the current scenario. She mentioned that she has exchanged information with opposition leader María Corina Machado, and the situation is not good, "the outlook is concerning." Moscoso also noted that questions remain: "Where is Padrino, where are the others?" "Those who are outside their homeland want to return and have democracy," she concluded, a member of the National Council of Foreign Relations. Mireya Moscoso's statements were made during the inauguration of the Chitré interchange bridge.
