IDAAN Announces Water Pipe Disinfection in Chitré

The National Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers (IDAAN) announced that it will begin the process of disinfecting the pipe network in the district of Chitré, Herrera province, specifically in the sectors of La Arena and the Circunvalación road. The work will be carried out from Monday, February 2, starting at 8:00 a.m., until Wednesday, February 4, at 6:00 p.m., during which the drinking water supply will be irregular in other areas of the district. The entity recommended that the population take the necessary supply precautions, as the normalization of the service will be done progressively once the technical work is completed.

Directly Affected Sectors The recommendations issued by IDAAN apply only to the communities of La Arena and the Circunvalación.

Recommendations During Pipe Disinfection Clean water storage tanks beforehand. Do not open the taps during the disinfection period. After the process is completed, open all the taps for 30 minutes before using the water, in order to disinfect the internal pipes of the residences. Stay attentive to official information from IDAAN and the Ministry of Health (MINSA).

Important Sanitary Warning Once the service is restored, the water should be used exclusively for hygiene and cleaning, until MINSA officially confirms that it is safe for human consumption.

IDAAN's Commitment IDAAN reiterated that these works are part of the plan for the distribution and improvement of the drinking water service, complying with strict technical and sanitary criteria, with the objective of guaranteeing a safe and reliable supply for the population.
