The Institute of Agricultural Innovation of Panama (IDIAP) began the coffee harvest at its Buena Vista Subcenter, located on the entity's experimental farm in the province of Colón. This activity was carried out with the collaboration of students in professional practice from the Professional and Technical Institute of Capira, as well as the Professional and Technical Institute Gil Betegon of Colón. The event included a forum on various aspects of coffee management, addressing topics such as the most common diseases, proper pruning, fertilizer application, plant maintenance, and the correct selection of the grain. Students had the opportunity to apply in the field the knowledge acquired in the classroom, strengthening their professional training through practical experience. The main objective of this activity is to provide students with comprehensive training that combines theory with practice, allowing them to develop technical skills, critical analysis abilities, and leadership, fundamental for their future performance in the agribusiness sector. This type of initiative reinforces the preparation of future professionals to face the challenges of the world of work. The province of Colón, in addition to its importance in coffee cultivation, stands out for other agricultural activities, such as cattle ranching and the planting of bananas, coconuts, and other agricultural products, which constitute a vital part of its rural economy.
