Restoration of Colón's Historic Center in Panama

Panama's Ministry of Culture invests nearly $900,000 to restore historical monuments and public spaces in Colón. The project, supervised by the Historic Center Office, aims to boost tourism, the economy, and the region's cultural identity.

The project's technical report reminds that the restoration of the Historic Center of Colón is one of the 'Country Projects' defined in the Government's Strategic Plan.

Technical supervision of the project will be in charge of the Historic Center Office of the City of Colón, which will verify the quality of materials, work methods, and compliance with the schedule.

The deterioration of these areas causes the loss of the cultural and tourist appeal of the historic center of Colón.

The Ministry of Culture will carry out improvements on historical monuments in the city of Colón, in which it will invest nearly 900 thousand dollars.

The urban complex to be maintained is made up of parks, walkways, avenues, and pedestrian areas.

The contractor must carry out landscaping, cleaning, sanitation, tree planting, specialized pruning, and urban furniture renewal actions.

With these works, the creation of both direct and indirect jobs is expected, in addition to strengthening tourism and the local economy, reinforcing cultural identity, and community bonds.

For this purpose, it has hired the company Centroequipos, S.A. through an exceptional procedure, which must execute these works in a period of six months counted from the order to proceed.

These are the Paseo Juan Demóstenes Arosemena, Paseo Gorgas, Paseo De Lesseps, Avenida Roosevelt, Parque Sucre, and Paseo Washington, known as Paseo Marino.
