Various sectors in the communities of Quebrada López and Río Gatún in the Limón district, in the Transisthmus area of Colón, remain without drinking water due to breaks in their system. This comes amid the strike by officials of the National Aqueducts and Sewers Institute (IDAAN), who are demanding a productivity bonus. Gina Peralta, a 43-year-old resident of the area, stated that they cannot wait for Christmas to arrive without drinking water, so they have asked IDAAN to go to the places where the breaks are and repair them as soon as possible. "We want water, we cannot be like grubs, we know that the claims of the IDAAN officials are within their rights but they must see that we want the service," she said. Likewise, Ronald Alonso, 27 years old, another resident, pointed out that IDAAN must provide them with more resources to deal with the damage to the system, which also implies the hiring of technical personnel. Now the families living in these communities are waiting for the damage to be repaired, so as to avoid spending Christmas without water in their homes and to be able to do their chores.
