Partial Balcony Collapse in Colón

Currently, 31 families reside in the property, awaiting concrete actions and relocation, as they were previously contemplated within the relocation plans. Following the collapse, immediate actions were activated, including a technical assessment in coordination with the infrastructure team. Officials indicated that the corresponding authorities in Panama will be notified to manage contingency measures. Javier Blas, an official from the Ministry of Housing and Territorial Planning (MIVIOT), informed that the affected structure shows significant deterioration. "It is a building that is already quite deteriorated, as can be observed," he stated during the preliminary inspection. One of the balconies of building No. 7087, located on Calle 7, Central Avenue in the city of Colón, partially collapsed, evidencing the advanced state of deterioration of this property. Its residents were included in a moving plan to the 'Altos de Los Lagos II Phase' project, in the district of Cristóbal Este.
