Seven people were detained and a large quantity of merchandise, including cigarettes, were seized this weekend during an operation carried out by the National Prosecutor's Office, the National Customs Authority, and the National Aeronaval Service (SENAN) in high seas off the Costa Arriba de Colón. According to authorities and security agencies, this seizure was conducted under the 'Plan Firmeza' strategy with the operation titled: 'Operation Caribbean,' aimed at combating illicit activities at sea nationwide. In this case, contraband merchandise was seized north of Palmira, in the district of Santa Isabel in the Costa Arriba de Colón province. The Second Superior Prosecutor's Office against Organized Crime participated in this operation, managing to intercept contraband goods such as cigarettes and other products on a vessel destined for Colombia. The vessel had departed from the port city of Colón with goods originating from the Colón Free Trade Zone.
