Authorities and residents of communities in the reverted areas of Colón held a working meeting at the Cristóbal Community Board to address issues related to irregular constructions in residential areas. During the meeting, the need to control the large number of constructions being carried out in these communities was raised, some of them allegedly irregularly or fraudulently. In some cases, homeowners are expanding their properties, exceeding the limit permitted by municipal authorities. The authorities and residents stated that the use of public space and even sidewalks to build annexes to homes without the required construction permits has been reported. These modifications are carried out by people with the aim of renting out the added parts of the properties. These irregular constructions can be observed in communities such as La Feria and other areas of East Cristóbal. It was reported that another meeting will soon be held, which will be attended by other communities and different ministries, with the aim of addressing the issue of disorganized rentals that are occurring in some sectors. This meeting was attended by the Vice Governor of Colón, Marysin Cedeño; the representative of the Cristóbal district, Ricardo Cerrud; personnel from the Municipal Engineering Department of the Mayoralty and the IDAAN, along with residents of the La Cresta, Margarita, and Espinar communities.
