Modern Cruise Ship Arrives in Colón Province

Colón province continues to promote itself as a tourist destination with the arrival of cruise ships. The Atlantic coast was visited for the first time by the modern cruise ship Brillant Lady, from the Virgin Voyages line. This ship docked at the home port of Terminal 2 in the city of Colón, as part of the cruise season. The vessel arrived with 1,668 passengers and 1,146 crew members, from Puerto Limón, Costa Rica, and will continue its itinerary to Cartagena, Colombia, as part of an international route that includes Miami, Costa Maya, Puerto Limón, Colón, Cartagena, and Oranjestad (Aruba). It is expected that these arrivals will reaffirm the importance of the cruise season as a driver of economic dynamism, benefiting commerce, transportation, gastronomy, and local tourist services. Additionally, with the arrival of these cruises, the goal is to position Colón as a strategic point within Caribbean routes. Similarly, it seeks to generate an economic boom for small and medium-sized businesses. With the arrival of these cruises, they also hope to showcase their gastronomy, crafts, and other services. The Brillant Lady, which began operations in August 2025, has 16 decks, 1,408 cabins, and a length of 277.20 meters, reflecting the potential of the Colón port to receive high-level vessels.
