The Atlantic city came to life this weekend. Some 120,000 people attended the 'Sabores de Colón' event, which took over the Art and Culture Center in the city of Colón for two days. The Paseo Juan Demóstenes Arosemena also hosted parallel activities. Hotels were full, businesses recorded higher-than-usual sales, and public transport was operating at full capacity. Although an official final report is not yet available, estimates suggest the event generated over 1.5 million dollars in economic impact during the two days. The organizers are already looking ahead. Gastronomy, culture, and pure Colón flavor that drew the masses. Michael Chen, one of the organizers, stated the numbers bluntly. Over 60,000 visitors on the first day alone and sales of around 600,000 dollars from 200 entrepreneurs who set up their stalls. People came, bought, and showed their support.
