The first phase of construction of the new Nueva Esperanza Penitentiary Center in the province of Colón has reached a 70% progress in the works related to earthmoving, leveling, and compaction, reported Adin Padilla, representative of the Cecodsa company. These tasks are part of the fundamental preparation for the construction of the penitentiary infrastructure, which aims to improve the conditions and capabilities of the prison system in Colón. According to the technical report, the current work on the site includes: unloading and controlled removal of material, leveling of the area designated for the future complex, and soil compaction with heavy machinery. It is expected that this center will meet all the specifications of a penitentiary entity. This is the result of a recent inspection carried out by the Territorial Development Directorate of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (DDT/MEF). The DDT/MEF highlighted that periodic inspections allow to ensure compliance with the schedule and the established technical standards for this important project.
