High-voltage copper cables will be part of the evidence against a 39-year-old man, who was caught taking these materials from the facilities of the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) in the province of Colón at the beginning of this week. It all started with a call that alerted the Canal Police, whose units went to the scene and found a white pickup truck belonging to a private company. During the vehicle inspection, it was observed that it was transporting high-voltage copper cables. Therefore, the driver was detained and transferred by Canal Police agents to the security agency's headquarters in the community of Margarita, in the corregimiento of Cristóbal, on the outskirts of the city of Colón. Now, this person faces the crime of theft of state property against the ACP. Technical personnel from the institution (ACP) arrived at the scene to verify the situation, and indicated that the corresponding complaint will be filed with the competent authorities.
