The National Police intensified pressure on the streets of Colón province, resulting in significant outcomes. Between January 20 and 26, 2026, 73 raids were conducted, leading to the seizure of five firearms, ammunition, and illegal substances. A total of 89 individuals wanted by judicial authorities were apprehended. The crimes the detainees are accused of include gang-related activities, homicide, attempted homicide, robbery, theft, and sexual abuse. All apprehended individuals have been handed over to the courts to face their respective legal processes. Commissioner Hermógenes Argüelles, head of the Colón Police Zone, detailed that the operations took place from January 20 to 26, 2026. So far this year, at least five people have already lost their lives due to violence, keeping alerts high. Authorities confirmed that they have reinforced checkpoints in hotspots, enabling the detection of wanted individuals and new drug seizures.
