Defense to Appeal Detention in Colón Elderly Man Murder Case

Panama - The private defense attorneys for the two 18-year-old suspects linked to the homicide case against 70-year-old Rogelio Hudson in the city of Colón have announced they will appeal the provisional detention measure. The appeal hearing is scheduled for March 24th at 10:00 AM at the Superior Court of Appeals in the district of San Miguelito, where the youths' defense will seek to have a different, non-custodial bail measure imposed. The young men, presented to the Colón Accusatory Penal System on Thursday afternoon, were identified as Jatniel Brown and Ge Dullah Blandon, both 18. This criminal case began on February 13 of this year when Rogelio Hudson Bryan, 70, who was dedicated to parking cars in the Barrio Sur district of Colón, was attacked with stones by several youths riding electric scooters. The victim, who remained hospitalized for several days, died on February 21 due to the severity of the injuries sustained in the attack.
