The event calls on citizens, volunteers, and the private sector to participate in this solidarity drive to transform the reality of pediatric healthcare in western Panama. As part of the initiative, Puerto Barú and the Nuevas Rutas Foundation signed an agreement with the Teletón 20-30 Chiriquí 2026. The support from Puerto Barú strengthens the goal project of Teletón 20-30 Chiriquí 2026. Through its social arm, the Nuevas Rutas Foundation, Puerto Barú formally committed to pediatric healthcare in western Panama ahead of the solidarity event on March 13 and 14. For González, supporting Teletón 20-30 Chiriquí 2026 represents a concrete contribution to ensuring that families in Chiriquí have dignified and specialized care conditions. From the perspective of the Nuevas Rutas Foundation, its president Mónica Suero highlighted that this sponsorship aligns with the organization's fundamental pillars in terms of child health. According to technical records, the demand for care has shown alarming peaks, with 1,231 patients in 2020 and 1,010 in 2022, figures that exceed national averages and underscore the urgency of modernizing existing facilities. Ismael González, General Director of Puerto Barú, stated in the third person that regional development must be linked to actions that generate social well-being. Currently, this hospital center serves 30% of all children under 14 with burns in Panama. Suero stated in the third person that the decision to support the project was made with the thought of offering specialized care to children going through complex recovery processes, assuming the initiative as more of a human than an institutional commitment. In turn, Giacomo Tamburrelli, president of the 2026 Teletón edition, explained that the goal project will allow raising the standard of pediatric care not only in Chiriquí but also for patients from Bocas del Toro and other neighboring areas. The modernization will include updating medical equipment and optimizing therapy spaces. Teletón 20-30 Chiriquí 2026 will take place on March 13 and 14 at the facilities of the David International Fair. This strategic alliance is intended to finance the year's goal project: the comprehensive remodeling and equipping of the Burns Room of the José Domingo de Obaldía Maternal and Infant Hospital. The intervention at the Obaldía Hospital responds to alarming statistics in the country's western region.
