Teenager Dies in Guararé River

The province of Los Santos recorded the second death by drowning in less than a month, following the death on Friday afternoon of a minor in the waters of the Guararé River. The victim was identified as Luis Daniel, a 16-year-old young man from the El Jobo de Guararé community, who lost his life while in the El Espavé area in the Guararé district. After the emergency was reported, units of the National Civil Protection System arrived at the scene in coordination with the Panama Fire Department, personnel from the National Emergency Medical Service, and the National Police of Panama, who handled the situation. This incident has once again raised alarms about the risks in rivers and recreational areas of the region, especially during seasons when there is an increase in visitors to these sites. Authorities reiterated to the population the importance of taking extreme safety measures when entering rivers, streams, and recreational areas.
