Panama Restricts Access to Guarumal Highway Section

Panamanian authorities have warned that heavy vehicles are not permitted to use the newly opened section of the Panama-Colón highway in Guarumal. The Land Transit and Transport Authority (ATTT) issued the statement. Since August, when structural damage was discovered on this stretch, the road had been closed, causing inconveniences for residents and passengers. According to Humberto Harris, regional director of the ATTT, the section has been opened for light vehicles and public transport, with two lanes operating in both directions. The ATTT specified that six-wheeled vehicles, such as mulas and dump trucks, are prohibited from using the area. Police officers and ATTT inspectors will be present to enforce the regulations. Signage has been placed from the Buena Vista area, limiting the speed to 60 km/h and prohibiting heavy vehicles from passing through Guarumal. Work in the zone is expected to be completed by February.
