Panama Invests $2.4 Million in New School Construction

Panama's Ministry of Education announces the construction of a new comprehensive education center in La Chorrera, with a capacity for 2,500 students. The $2.4 million project is set for completion by 2027.


According to data from the Ministry of Education (Meduca), for the year 2024, seven new schools needed to be built in West Panama to cover the deficit in classrooms and school centers. The Ministry of Education announced that it will invest $2.4 million in the construction of a new comprehensive education center in the district of La Chorrera (West Panama), with a capacity for 2,500 students. The Minister of Education, Lucy Molinar, requested the construction company to expedite the project and use quality materials. The new school center will feature 76 classrooms, specialized laboratories, an administrative building, a multi-sport gymnasium, outdoor sports areas, and security systems. This comprehensive education center will be built in the Puerto Caimito district and will be named "Puerto del Mar". According to projections by the company in charge of the project, Cimenta Construcción, the work must be completed and delivered by April 2027. It was also added that the land acquired for the construction of schools has been donated by private individuals and companies. For December 15, the start of construction work on another school in the El Arado district is scheduled, and another educational center is in the process of being arranged in La Chorrera.
