The municipality of La Chorrera has imposed seven fines ranging from $500 to $1,000 on Veolia Panamá for failing to provide waste collection services in various areas of the district. The fines were imposed after the municipal oversight office received several citizen complaints about the deficient provision of residential waste collection services. Roberto Lee, the Secretary General of the La Chorrera mayor's office, stated that the complaints and fines have already been brought to the attention of Veolia Panamá. Although he did not specify a timeframe, he added that the company must appear to pay the seven imposed fines. Lee also admitted that the company has made efforts to reduce waste collection times in the neighborhoods. In November 2025, the cleaning company rented compacting trucks to meet collection schedules and prevent the formation of 'little patties' in public service areas. He added that in some sectors of La Chorrera, inefficient waste collection by the company still persists. The company confirmed that it has been notified by the municipality of the imposed fines.
