The municipality of La Chorrera has applied six fines ranging from $500 to $1,000 to the company Veolia Panama, due to non-compliance with waste collection services in various sites of the district. The fines were imposed after receiving municipal oversight several citizen complaints about the deficient provision of the household waste collection service. Roberto Lee, Secretary General of the La Chorrera mayor's office, stated that the complaints and fines have already been brought to the attention of Veolia Panama. Although he did not specify the time, he added that the company must appear to pay the seven fines imposed. Lee also admitted that the company has made efforts to reduce waste collection times in the neighborhoods. In November 2025, the cleaning company rented compactors trucks to meet collection schedules and prevent the formation of 'pataconitos' in public servitude areas. He also added that in some sectors of La Chorrera there is still a deficient collection of waste by the company. Veolia Panama confirmed that it has been notified by the municipality of the fines imposed.
