On Thursday, the Customs Prevention and Control Directorate (DPFA) stopped smuggling at a warehouse located in the Barrio Colón area, in the district of La Chorrera, West Panama. Among the products retained were tires, electrical appliances, and more than 50 boxes with various merchandise, the origin of which could not be supported by the warehouse owners. Inspectors also seized cigarette boxes and tobacco products, with an approximate value of $30,000.00, which will be transferred to the Customs headquarters in the capital city for the corresponding procedure and the start of the investigations. This operation is part of the "Smuggling-Free Christmas" campaign, which began on October 1, in which the DPFA has retained liquors, cigarettes, agricultural products, and other items for an estimated value of 1,752,371 balboas.
