Ministry of Public Works Intensifies Road Maintenance in La Chorrera

The Ministry of Public Works has launched a road maintenance operation in La Chorrera to address citizen requests and optimize mobility conditions on various strategic routes in this district. Under the coordination of Engineer Alexander Barsallo, the institution's regional director, the restoration of two critical sections on the Pan-American Highway that connects to the Costa Verde sector was carried out. This point is relevant as it serves as one of the main access routes for visitors attending the 65th edition of the International Fair of La Chorrera, located in the Barrio Balboa district. As a preventive measure before the activities began, the Ministry installed the necessary signaling devices and corresponding horizontal signage. These actions were taken to alert road users and ensure they drove with caution during the development of the works. The tasks, carried out by specialized crews, included both the rehabilitation of the asphalt pavement and the deep cleaning of the storm drainage systems to prevent issues from water accumulation. In the Las Albertas area, specifically at the intersection of Calle Y Oeste with Avenida Santiago Barraza, the Storm Drainage Section of Regional Directorate No. 1 intervened in a manhole. Using a Vactor truck, technical personnel managed to restore flow in a 45-centimeter diameter pipeline. This intervention is fundamental to ensure the runoff of rainwater, minimizing risks for pedestrians and drivers in this area. For these repairs, 12 tons of hot asphalt were allocated, allowing for the recovery of the riding surface on this high-traffic road. Additionally, MOP personnel worked on the rehabilitation of a return lane located 500 meters after the previous point.
