Interactive Digital Classroom Inaugurated in Panamá Oeste

The first interactive digital classroom is inaugurated in La Chorrera. A $15,000 project by rotary clubs aims to advance STEM and digital education in Panama.

In the district of La Chorrera, in the province of Panamá Oeste, the first interactive digital classroom of its kind in the region has been inaugurated. This new facility will benefit students of various grades from the Mendoza Educational Center. The installation of this classroom is part of the national 'Interactive Digital Classroom' project, driven by the country's rotary clubs with the support of The Rotary Foundation, educational authorities, and community partners. During the inauguration, students demonstrated the use of the classroom, showcasing how these technological resources will help develop digital skills, collaborative learning, and interaction with modern educational content. These interactive digital classrooms are promoted by the president of the Rotary Club of Panamá Norte. With this technological tool, said Miriam de Sugasti, president of the Rotary Club of La Chorrera—the civic organization that carried out the project—students will have access to high-quality digital resources. The interactive digital classroom can accommodate groups of up to 30 students per session. For the Rotary Club of La Chorrera, this initiative symbolizes a direct commitment to education, youth, and the development of Panamá Oeste. Throughout the school year, students from the fourth grade onwards will benefit on a rotating basis, ensuring that each group has access to the space and technological tools. This type of education focuses on teaching science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) through projects and group work. This classroom represents an approximate investment of $15,000.00, including specialized equipment to strengthen STEM and digital education. This type of classroom will allow teachers to enhance teaching processes at the institution. Maintenance, training, impact measurement, and support will be the responsibility of the Rotary Club of La Chorrera. The classroom is equipped with 30 laptops and a specialized charging cart, allowing each student to have a functional device during class. The project represents a total estimated investment of $500,000.00 nationwide.
