La Chorrera: Villa Unida without water, families demand a permanent solution

Over 400 families in the La Chorrera district in Panama faced a sixth day without water supply. Residents of the Villa Unida area blocked a road in protest, demanding a permanent solution to the problem. At 1:30 PM, the National Aqueducts and Sewers Institute (IDAAN) sent a tanker truck to the site, but residents warned that the demand for water exceeded the capacity of the vehicle provided. The lack of drinking water was the trigger for residents of Villa Unida, located in the Herrera district in La Chorrera, to take to the streets in protest again. The protesters are demanding that IDAN include them in the drinking water distribution network to no longer depend on water trucks. Units of the National Police (PN) arrived at the site to reach an agreement with the families and reopen the road.
