QR Code Surveys to Improve Services at Nicolás Solano Hospital

The medical management of the Nicolás A. Solano Hospital in La Chorrera has turned to the use of QR codes in digital surveys to learn about patients' opinions on outpatient medical care and in the emergency room. These digital surveys are aimed at patients, family members, and users of this hospital center, said Epimenio Bermúdez from the Quality Department at this hospital. He added that the objective is to have an instrument that will allow for the improvement of the quality of health services for patients, by knowing their experience of the care received, whether positive or negative, in different areas of the hospital. The questionnaire includes closed-ended questions and some open-ended ones, which allow users to describe in detail their experience during their care. The surveys cover services such as pediatric, obstetric, and adult emergency care, as well as laboratory, radiology, medical attention, and the cashier area. Bermúdez explained that QR codes had been implemented previously, but in this stage, their scope has been expanded to achieve greater citizen participation. He also explained that the survey results are processed to later present a report to the medical management. The digital surveys using QR codes are complemented by other existing participation mechanisms, such as physical format surveys and suggestion boxes.
