Identification of Remains in La Chorrera

The Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences (IMELCF) will have the final say in the identification process of human remains found semi-buried in a semi-wooded area of Corozales, in the district of La Chorrera, in the province of West Panama. The case has authorities on alert while investigations are ongoing to clarify what happened. Last Saturday, a phone call alerted the National Police (PN) to the presence of a human body. After verifying and confirming the information at the scene, the Public Prosecutor's Office was notified, which proceeded with the removal of the corpse and the initiation of the corresponding investigations. The Homicide and Femicide Prosecutor's Office of the Public Prosecutor's Office in West Panama is awaiting the forensic report, which will have to determine the cause of death and provide elements that can help establish the possible identity of the victim. On that same Saturday, another anonymous call also alerted the National Police to a vehicle parked in the Penas Blancas area, in the district of Playa Leona. The car, which had no license plate, was inspected by personnel from the Public Ministry's Primary Care unit as part of the ongoing investigations.
