Finally! Construction begins on the school La Chorrera has requested for years

The Ministry of Education (MEDUCA) announced an investment of $2.4 million to build a new comprehensive education center in La Chorrera, Panama Oeste province. This project is a long-awaited relief for thousands of families that have been asking for dignified schools for years.

The construction, to be carried out by Cimenta Construcción, must be ready by April 2027, although the company says it will strive to deliver ahead of schedule and with good quality. The deficit is significant: in 2024, MEDUCA counted that Panama Oeste needed seven new schools to meet the demand.

Minister Lucy Molinar asked the company for speed and quality materials, making it clear that the ministry will be overseeing the project. The new campus, located in Puerto Caimito and named "Puerto del Mar", will be a complete facility: 76 classrooms, laboratories, an administrative building, a multipurpose gym, outdoor courts, and security systems.

Additionally, MEDUCA has announced that construction on another school in El Arado will begin on December 15th, and a third educational center for La Chorrera is in the works.

Molinar also highlighted that many of the lands for these works have been donated by individuals and companies, a gesture that has allowed the projects to move forward. Everything points to La Chorrera finally seeing new schools rise… and the community has been waiting for this for a while.
