Court revokes house arrest for accused of minor's rape

The Court of Appeals of West Panama revoked the precautionary measure of periodic reporting and house arrest for two citizens accused of aggravated rape against a minor and ordered the application of provisional detention. During the appeal hearing, the Prosecutor's Office presented before the magistrates who make up the Court the procedural risks for which the accused, aged 20 and 21, must remain detained during the six months granted to advance the investigation against them, which was unanimously approved. In the case file, it is stated that in July 2025, the two accused, accompanied by a third subject who remains detained for the same case, violently abused a 17-year-old minor in the district of La Chorrera, for which they face charges for crimes against sexual freedom and integrity. Now, the three suspects remain under provisional detention until the case goes to trial.
