The La Chorrera Municipal Government has repealed the decrees issued by the previous municipal administration that allowed some entertainment venues to operate 24 hours a day, following a legal process that lasted several months. The municipality's Secretary General, Roberto Lee, explained that at least two of the establishments with extended hours had accumulated repeated citizen complaints for fights, scandals, and even shootings, which motivated the legal action. Lee detailed that the annulment of the decrees was not immediate due to the legal appeals filed by the merchants' lawyers, which delayed the decision. With the issuance of a new mayoral decree by the administration of Mayor Eloy Chon, it is established that nightlife entertainment venues must close at 4:00 a.m. on weekends. The official indicated that an edict has already been posted on the door of one of the venues after its owner refused to attend the citations to be formally notified of the resolution. Lee described the previous municipal administration's decision to extend the operating hours of some nightlife centers as "irresponsible," considering that this measure affected public coexistence and citizen safety.
