The Authority for Consumer Protection and Competition Defense (Acodeco) has presented the preliminary results of its price monitoring, detailing the cost of a traditional Christmas dinner for a family of four in several supermarkets in the capital city. The surveys were conducted between December 5 and 10, 2025, in establishments in the districts of Juan Díaz, Bella Vista, Santa Ana, Calidonia, and Pueblo Nuevo. According to the initial reports, the final price of the basic dinner depends crucially on the protein or main meat selected by the consumer. In the Juan Díaz district, the approximate costs of the Christmas dinner were: B/.75.49 with ham; B/.65.65 with turkey; B/.63.83 with turkey-chicken and B/.56.53 with chicken. In Bella Vista, the approximate minimum prices recorded were: B/.83.18 (ham); B/.85.10 (turkey); B/.70.15 (turkey-chicken) and B/.65.05 (chicken). Santa Ana and Calidonia registered the lowest costs for chicken. Pueblo Nuevo presented the highest cost of the survey with ham, reaching B/.96.85. The other prices were: B/.75.82 (turkey); B/.74.73 (turkey-chicken) and B/.66.83 (chicken). Acodeco has designed this basic Christmas dinner with the aim of offering consumers a clear reference for budget planning, although the cost may vary according to the tastes and preferences of each family. Among the 25 products whose prices were monitored, in addition to the meat protein (ham, turkey, turkey-chicken or chicken), there are: a 33-ounce nutless bread roll, mixed nuts (400 g), fruit candy (14 oz), olives (7 oz), capers (7 oz), rice (5 pounds), a can of guandú (15 oz), a pound of potatoes, a pound of onions, a dozen eggs, a pound of apples, a pound of grapes and a pound of pears. The dinner also includes rum punch (750 ml) and sliced pineapple (20 ounces). Acodeco informed that these price monitoring will continue to be carried out in other sectors of the capital and in the provinces, and the results will be published on the entity's website as soon as they are consolidated.
