The Minister of the Presidency, Juan Carlos Orillac, took a tour of East Panama to showcase the progress of the Eastern Hydraulic Ring, which will soon bring water to over 500,000 people, and to discuss the international agenda that has opened doors to investment and employment. In the water sector, the Eastern Hydraulic Ring is almost complete. The tanks in Altos de Tocumen and María Henríquez will store about 10 million gallons, and final hermeticity and disinfection tests will be conducted this month. The connection with the IDAAN's transmission line ensures that the Federico Contel water treatment plant will supply water directly to homes. Orillac walked among pipes and valves, explaining that the most important thing is for people to open the tap and have water in their house. 'This is a project awaited for years and it will change the lives of half a million people in the East area,' he said while looking at the tanks. During the visit to the María Henríquez tank, Orillac referred to the tours of President José Raúl Mulino, saying they are not just trips, but business for the country. He recalled that the transnational Chiquita returned to Bocas del Toro, generating hundreds of jobs and showing that Panama remains attractive for investment. He also mentioned achievements such as joining new MERCOSUR markets and being removed from discriminatory lists in Europe.
