On Sunday, November 30th, Panama City was illuminated by Christmas. Mayor Mayer Mizrachi led the lighting of the Christmas tree on the Coastal Beltway, a magical show that brought together thousands of Panamanian families. The 'City Of Star 2025' International Christmas Festival features an extensive program of over 100 activities, including light displays and cultural events. The evening featured cultural and artistic performances that everyone enjoyed. 'The goal is for each community to experience Christmas close to home, in a safe and family-friendly environment,' said Mayor Mizrachi, reaffirming his commitment to fostering experiences that unite the city. The economic impact has reached over 300 people who have worked more than 400,000 hours in recent days on design and installation. This effort represents over 600 km if all lighting elements were laid out in a straight line. This iconic tree was sponsored by Global Bank, as part of the company's commitment to initiatives that strengthen community bonds and celebrate Panamanian traditions. On stage, Anyuri, Disco Virtual, Rickyplops, and Baby Karen shone, bringing rhythm and joy to the official start of the season.
Simultaneously, the 26 Christmas points distributed in Central, East, and North Panama were lit, bringing a festive spirit to parks, avenues, roundabouts, and community spaces throughout the capital. This year, 15 million tiny lights illuminate the capital city through the 26 sites and parks planned by the Municipality of Panama for the 2025 International Christmas Festival 'City Of Star'. For the first time, the Municipality of Panama has included a plan to keep 6 parks permanently open for a year with proper maintenance, so that thousands of national and foreign families can visit and generate income for microentrepreneurs. The Christmas Village has made 12 events available to the public, including a large, completely free skating rink that will remain open until January 4, 2026. Decorations and activities will continue throughout the Christmas season under the coordination of the Municipality of Panama.
