Panama Accident: Truck with Crane Damages Electrical Network

In Panama, a semi-truck carrying a crane on a lowbed trailer toppled several electrical utility poles after part of the equipment became entangled in the wiring at the intersection of Calle 50 and Vía Porras, damaging three vehicles. According to confirmation from Captain Yabeth Pérez, head of Extinction, Search, and Rescue (EXBURE) for the Panama Regional Zone, emergency units from the Panama Fire Department's 'Ricardo Arango' station in Calidonia are responding to the incident. Due to this accident, traffic had to be halted as cables fell onto the roadway. Drivers are also urged to follow the instructions of personnel at the scene and use alternative routes, detailed the Benemérito Cuerpo de Bomberos de la República de Panamá (BCBRP). Meanwhile, Lieutenant Joel Gaitán of the National Traffic Operations Directorate of the National Police stated that his agency is implementing detours on Calle 50. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Firefighters remain at the scene, performing prevention and security tasks while awaiting the arrival of electricity transmission and distribution companies to ensure all work is carried out with complete safety. The public is advised to remain calm, take extreme precautions, and be patient while necessary work is underway to restore safe conditions on the road.
