The Panama Aqueducts and Sewers Institute (Idaan) has announced a temporary suspension of the drinking water supply in the capital. The maintenance work will begin this Saturday, January 31st, from 6:00 a.m. until midnight. Residents of Panama and San Miguelito are advised to store water in advance. As announced by Idaan's director, Rutilio Villarreal, the work will be carried out in conjunction with the National Council for Sustainable Development (Conades) at the Federico Guardia Conte water treatment plant in Chilibre. The main tasks include the interconnection of the eastern hydraulic ring, electrical work, and the replacement of 24-inch valves in the distribution network, specifically in the El Chorrillo and Pedregal sectors. Additionally, the Panama Canal Authority (ACP) will be performing work on the lake. These measures are part of Idaan's summer maintenance plan, which has already been implemented in the provinces of ChiriquÃ, Santiago, and Chame.
