The National Institute of Aqueducts and Sewers (IDAAN) reports that the Federico Guardia Cont water treatment plant in Chilibre has reached 100% operation following the successful repair and installation of the motor for one of the pumps at the treated water pumping station. The supply of drinking water is being progressively restored in high and remote areas of the distribution network in Panama and San Miguelito that may have been affected during the repairs. We thank you for moderate water use so that the supply recovery can proceed as quickly as possible. The rapid detection of the mechanical failure in the pump motor and its repair were key to ensuring the efficiency of the Chilibre water treatment plant, a fundamental source of supply for the city of Panama.
Panama's Water Supply Restored After Repair at Treatment Plant
The IDAN announced the full restoration of the Chilibre treatment plant, allowing drinking water supply to resume in Panama and San Miguelito. A call to the public to use water moderately for the complete recovery of the system.
