Water Treatment Plant in Panama Restores Full Operation

The Federico Guardia Conteya Water Treatment Plant returned to 100% operation after a power failure that forced a production reduction last Saturday. The system was restored after several hours of continuous work by IDAAN and ACP technicians, who managed to normalize the service. The problem originated in a treated water pumping station, which initially reduced the operating capacity by half. However, in the early hours, the technical teams managed to increase production to 90% while repairs advanced on the affected system. With the support of specialists from the Panama Canal Authority, the work on the pumping station was completed, and the plant again reached its full capacity. This allowed the normal operation of one of the main sources of drinking water supply for the city to resume. IDAAN reported that the supply will be progressively regularized, especially in the high-lying and most remote areas of the network in Panama and San Miguelito, where water pressure usually takes longer to stabilize after such interruptions.
