In Panama, Arístides Rangel López, alias "Arístides", for whom the National Police offered a reward of $2,000 for information leading to his capture, has been apprehended in the Pueblo Nuevo district of the capital city. Units of the Judicial Investigation Directorate located "Arístides" in a residence in this populous area, days after the most recent list of "Most Wanted" individuals in Panama was released. This man is linked to the criminal group known as "The Sicilians", which operated in the San Miguelito district. This group was dismantled last September during "Operation Sigilo". Rangel López will be presented before a guarantees judge in the coming hours, who must legalize his apprehension and admit the charges for crimes against collective security in the form of gang activity. With his capture, the number of "Most Wanted" for gang apprehended from the list of 33 has now reached five. 28 other wanted individuals remain at large, for whom rewards ranging from $2,000 to $100,000 are being offered.
