The Ministry of the Environment (MiAMBIENTE) of Panama has announced the publication of the first progress report on the comprehensive audit of the Copper Mine Panama project. This audit will verify compliance with the 370 environmental commitments derived from the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of the project. In this preliminary stage, no findings or final conclusions have been issued, as the audit team is in the process of collecting and validating information before proceeding with physical site inspections. To ensure transparency, a technical annex has been created that organizes each commitment by description, institutional competence, and technical location, facilitating traceability during future field evaluations and specialized analysis. MiAMBIENTE reaffirmed that the process is carried out under international standards of independence and technical rigor. The reported phase has focused on defining the work methodology and the necessary technical organization to ensure rigorous control. According to the institution, the process is developing satisfactorily, meeting the established schedule and goals.
