The mayor of Panama, Mayer Mizrachi, stated this Tuesday, December 23, that the community boards of the Panama district receive sufficient resources for their operation and execution of works. Mizrachi questioned the lack of visible projects in some communities. Furthermore, the mayor explained that all community boards receive an equal monthly check of $65,000 for operations, in addition to $800,000 annually earmarked for investment, so he considered that the claims of lack of resources do not correspond to the budgetary reality. "All citizens need to know that community boards receive those funds," he said. The mayor stressed that community boards should be evaluated based on concrete results, not speeches. Mizrachi questioned those who, he said, are not making proper use of the funds allocated to community boards. "We didn't come here to do politics, but to address the needs of the citizens who put us in this position," he concluded. Finally, Mizrachi made a direct appeal to local authorities to focus on implementation and addressing citizens' needs. "Mayors and representatives, unlike members of parliament, are judged not by what we say, but by what we do. "The question is, where are the projects? Ironically, those who complain the most are the ones who do the least," he said. "My words are backed up by actions; the checks are there for all to see," he emphasized.
